British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health follows the sports world offered condolences for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
